New WALL-E Trailer with Live Action Humans?

Disney has released a strange new trailer for Pixar’s WALL-E. “Meet The Bots” introduces us to the many bots we’ll meet in Andrew Stanton’s film. The strange part is that it begins as a promotional video from the Buy N Large Corporation. For a few seconds we get to see what live-action humans look like on the luxury starliner (before they became giant couch potato blobs, or course). It looks very Happy Feet-ish.

Stanton confirmed last year at WonderCon that “There is a live action element involved” but wouldn’t reveal more, only insisting that “We’re not doing anything like Happy Feet.” Fred Willard later revealed that he appears on a television monitor as the live-action spokesman of Buy N Large. So it’s clear that the human characters that left earth use to look like live action humans (as opposed to the animated Captain played by Jeff Garlin). And we have since seen that WALL-E watches a live-action version of the musical Hello Dolly in his trailer full of human collectibles. So I’m very curious to see if this is actually part of the film itself.

Thanks to Reader Dustin R for sending over the tip.

X-Files and Office Dish from WonderCon

Steve Carell, David Duchovny

Tubers, dare to dream.

Case in point: Many of you wrote on the Watch with Kristin message boards that you'd love for world's best boss Michael Scott from NBC's The Office to hit jury duty, just as his real-life counterpart, Steve Carell, recently did.

Well, guess what? Steve Carell himself says that's precisely what is in the works. This Office dish is just part of the juicy goodness our intern emeritus Marisa Roffman scored when she hit up the big event of the weekend: WonderCon in San Fran. (What, did you think I was gonna say that other awards thingy?)

During the panel for Get Smart, Carell told the audience that the Office cast goes back to work in two weeks. And although he won't be penning any episodes for this season, he is planning to write an episode for next season based on his recent two-week jury-duty stint, where he served on a case in which neither of the parties spoke English and required a translator. (You can just imagine Michael's tact and cultural sensitivity in full effect, right? God bless him!)

Joshua Jackson

Elsewhere at the Con, Joshua Jackson, who is now rumored to be unavailable for his Grey's stint as Cristina's lover (booo!), was also unavailable to do press for the film Shutter, because he's working on the new J.J. Abrams pilot, Fringe, up in Toronto (yay!). However, his Shutter costar James Kyson Lee (Heroes' Ando) represented, and he acknowledged that "some things worked and some things didn't" in Heroes' second season, and that in the next chapter, "Villains," Hiro and Ando will share more time together.

Still, not to bruise Michael Scott's fragile ego, but it's clear that the panel of this year's WonderCon was the X-Files movie, where fans camped out for hours to see, among other things, the world premiere of the movie trailer (which you can see a shakey, fan-filmed version of here…)

The room went nuts. And the panel received a standing ovation. Seems people are, um, looking forward to this? Who knew?! Oh, right, everyone.

Though creator Chris Carter and his crew were tight-lipped about movie spoilers, C.C. did say very firmly that no one is ever really dead in The X-Files, raising speculation that we may see the likes of the Lone Gunmen or Cigarette-Smoking Man in the flick. There were also whisperings that Skinner would be in the movie (though the only official casting that has been confirmed thus far is David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson, Amanda Peet, Billy Connolly and Xzibit.)

So, how excited are you for the X-Files movie, the return of Michael Scott and Pacey Freaking Witter (swoon!) joining up with J.J. Abrams?! Comment below!

P.S.: One final word of advice to you Office fans, straight from the mouth of Carell: "You should try to work 'That's what she said' into every conversation, because it really works." Always a good time, as evidenced by the NBC promo below, which never fails to leave me satisfied and smiling…

New DVD set might give hints about X-Files movie

X-Files: RevelationsSo Isabelle posted a story recently about the new X-Files sequel that is supposed to hit theaters this July 25. The movie has been pretty much under wraps, except for a snippet of film here and some behind the scenes photos there. And the cast and crew certainly aren’t saying anything about the movie’s plot. The only hint we’ve received is that this movie has more to do with a standalone mystery than the alien mythology storyline from the show (and the first film).

But now I’m slightly confused, as this press release for a new X-Files DVD set says that the set gives a hint as to what we can expect in the movie.

The set is called “Revelations” and includes eight classic episodes from the series chosen by creator Chris Carter. The thing is, it’s really a mix of standalone episodes and alien mythology. The episodes are the “Pilot” and “Beyond the Sea” (from Season 1), “The Host” (from season 2), “Clyde Bruckman’s Final Repose” (from season 3), “Memento Mori” (from season 4), “Post-Modern Prometheus” and “Bad Blood” (from season 5), and “Milagro” (from season 6). The set will also feature the trailer for the big screen adventure and that session from WonderCon, which included a teaser that made fans go wild.

I’m not sure if this info is to throw fans off the track as to what the movie is about, or the movie is about vampires, Frankenstein, aliens, psychics, the New Jersey sewers, brain cancer, and weird novel writers.

The set will be in stores on July 1, so you’ll have a few weeks to watch the episodes to prepare for the movie.

Some X-Files movie sequel hints - VIDEO

The X-FilesCan you hear the eerie music becoming louder and louder? That’s the sound of the X-Files movie being one step closer to being released on the big screens this summer (more than likely on July 25)! Being an X-Files and a spoilers fan, I jumped up and down a few times while humming the show’s theme this morning when I stumbled on a SCI FI Wire article that offered just what I was looking for: spoilers about the upcoming X-Files movie!

The movie, a stand-alone story, will feature some of the most essential themes of the spooky series. While at the WonderCon in San Francisco, creator Chris Carter revealed that skepticism and faith will play a big part in the movie. Producer/writer Frank Spotnitz added that the movie will be scary, exciting, very personal, romantic and emotional. The creative duo also dished that the relationship between Mulder and Scully has changed over the years.

Cast and crew are not leaking many spoilers about the movie sequel. Spy photos showed a werewolf head but no one working on the set wants to confirm if it is a legit picture or not. However, during the WonderCon, footage from the movie was shown and featured Billy Connolly and Amanda Peet playing “a man with really long hair” and “an FBI special agent in charge who goes missing” respectively. I put a video of the footage at the bottom of this post (it may take a few seconds to appear on your screen). It’s not of the best quality since it was shot by a fan seating in the audience but we can see pretty well the entire teaser. Can you find all the hints featured in this teaser? I must say I had pretty much the same reaction as the audience when Mulder and Scully appeared on screen!

The amount of spoilers in this article left me on my appetite. I was craving for much more! Couldn’t they tell us if the werewolf picture was accurate? It’s just a werewolf and it wouldn’t be giving much away to confirm that since it’s pretty much a given this type of mythical beast would turn up on the X-Files. Rest assured that we will bring you the latest news and spoilers from the site as they hit the net.
